How Firm a Foundation

I've been a very lazy blogger of late.  With the kids out of school, there's little down time (my doctor told me "take it easy and rest more" - ha!) and I have a horrible cold on top of it.  Demon portals are feeling better though, so that certainly helps.  Gratitude to all that offered assvice on my last post. (Get a load of that assonance!)

News was good at my latest appointment.  Mei-mei's guesstimated weight at 32 weeks is 4 1/2 pounds, putting her in the 67th percentile!  She also got a perfect score on the Biophysical Profile and Non-Stress tests.  Going forward, appointments will be Tuesdays and Fridays.  It's nice to have bi-weekly reassurance that Mei-mei is doing well, but stressful too since we have crappy insurance and the bills pile up.

On Friday I went shopping for nursing bras.  This is by far the boldest act of hope I have taken during this pregnancy.  It feels dangerously hopeful, but I figure things are looking great for Mei-mei and I don't want to get caught bra-less once she arrives.  Also, my cups runneth over and there's no way I'm wasting money on giant new non-nursing bras that I hopefully won't have use for once baby arrives.

I looked in the foundation garments section of several large stores and the selection was disappointing.  Everything was flimsy, too small, and hideously unattractive.

I was hoping to find some industrial strength bras with room to grow.  What I ended up with were two double D's that are barely adequate now, but it will have to do.  Until I'm 100% sure I'll be lucky enough to need them,  I'm not prepared to invest any more effort in finding firmer foundation garments.

Oh so glad Mei-mei is doing well!!

I was a wild woman; when I first needed maternity clothes at the beginning and there was a really, really nice lady who ran a small maternity wear shop, she fitted me with a couple 'pregnancy' bras (she understood how freaked out I'd be by the idea of a breastfeeding bra). They fit fine but still had room to grow, not underwire but still lots of support because even before Sparky I was a DD or E cup. Unfortunately they're made by an Australian company though. They're been great - and if Sparky ever needs me to breast feed, they're ready. They've been the main bras I've worn for the past 5 or 6 months!

I miss the lady who ran the maternity shop - she was SO understanding. When I was pregnant with Blobby, she was quite obviously pregnant, but lost her bub sometime after I lost Blobby. I don't know how she went back to running a maternity shop, but she did and was so understanding when I'd freak out and cry while trying on clothes. She closed the business because she fell pregnant again and was too freaked out to keep working.

What a ramble - but I hope you find something comfy and supportive!

Glad to hear Mei-mei is doing well :)

Worried to hear about your bra shopping experience.. if it was difficult for you to find big sizes, what hope have I got in China?! I was already DD before pregnancy (with a narrow back) and had to buy all my bras back home.. can't see anywhere here having my size now! xx

Yay for a good update on Mei-mei! I love the picture - now that's what we need!!! I hate bra shopping too - they are all too darn small!!!

I just think back to when I first found your blog, and looking to now, it's just amazing. You will soon be a family of 4! (with 2 sweet angels in heaven)

I'm so glad things are going well with your pregnancy. If you need some great sites for ordering larger bras, I have some links in an old post. I had a huge problem finding nursing bras that fit.

That picture is hilarious.

I was on a last minute dash to buy nursing bras and sadly ended never needing them, so I am not a good help.

Sending Mei-Mei many many positive vibes.

I have a huge bra issue. I have two that fit okay but you can totally see my nipples in them all the time and it makes people say "Turkey's done". I have one that fits okay after feeding but is like a barometer for when I need to pump. And its a DDD. I have a medela one that I like okay but its new so stay tuned. I have two from Motherhood that fit around my ribcage but cause my enormous boobs to pop out. So...I feel ya. Let me know when you're ready to buy and I'll give you the name of the final winner.

I am stalking you per recommendation by Oak. Hope you don't mind. I wrote a post about nursing bras/tanks. My favorite find is glamourmom long tanks. They are super supportive for my giant rack and they cover up my flabby stretchmarked belly while I nurse. They are on the pricier side, but I have 3 of them and just do a lot of laundry. Totally a way better investment than the two bras I bought.
So glad that Mei-mei is doing great.

Glad you are being so well-monitored. I found the BPPs and non-stress tests to be very reassuring. Continued best wishes for you and Mei-mei.

Good luck bra shopping!

glad things are going well. I hate going bra shopping even not pregnant because finding good ones is impossible. A friend recommended a Hanes outlet to me and I was shocked to find they actually do carry larger sizes in decent styles, so it might be worth checking outlets in your area.

I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well! Here via ICLW
